“He’s So Complete” – Mac Allister Names Chelsea Player As His Toughest Midfield Opponent In The Premier League

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has named his former Brighton teammate Moises Caicedo as his toughest midfield opponent in the Premier League.

The pair formed a formidable partnership during their time together at the Seagulls in 2022/23 before both players left. Speaking about the Ecuadorian, Mac Allister said:

“I shared a dressing room with Moi, he was a fantastic player, so good physically. Physically is the hardest part. On and off the ball, he is so good, he’s so complete.”

After being teammates, the two have faced each other as opponents over the last two seasons. While Mac Allister made the switch to the Reds for £35m in 2023, Caicedo moved to Chelsea for a British record £115m in the same transfer window.

Mac Allister rates Caicedo above a Ballon d’Or Winner

The Argentinian international was actually asked to rank the 3 toughest midfielders to face in the Premier League.

Mac Allister chose Caicedo in 1st place, Arsenal’s Declan Rice in 2nd and Manchester City’s Rodri in 3rd.

The Reds midfielder emphasised that the Spaniard was more than deserving of the Ballon d’Or but he feels he is a very different type of player in terms of his technical and physical attributes.

Liverpool got themselves a bargain

Mac Allister has been an outstanding player for the Reds since his arrival two years ago. Securing the services of a World Cup winner for such a low fee was great business by the club and he has gone on to make key contributions, especially this season, with Arne Slot’s side now on the cusp of winning the Premier League title.

There have been suggestions that he could be a target for Real Madrid but his father Carlos denied those claims last week. Fans will be hoping that the 26-year-old stays at Anfield for many years to come.
