“He Just Lost All His Bearings” – Seaman Names The Liverpool Star Who Was At Fault For Goal Against Brighton

Arsenal legend David Seaman believes Alisson Becker was the player most at fault for Liverpool conceding the first goal vs. Brighton at the weekend.

The Brazilian was caught out of position when Alexis Mac Allister was robbed of possession and he was slow to get back on his line, leading Simon Adingra to easily slot the ball past him and into the back of the net. Seaman says Alisson simply “lost” where his goalposts were:

“Alisson playing it out from the back, the defender losing it, and he’d be totally out of position. You know because of the way the ball went it, it wasn’t right down the post, it was in the goal a little bit. He just lost all his bearings. And that’s what happens when you are outside your area and trying to get back. I always tried to use my penalty spot as my guide.”

It wasn’t Alisson’s finest hour, to say the least. He looked like he was running in slow motion back towards his goal when Adingra got his shot off. Of course, that doesn’t absolve others of blame.

Van Dijk must take his fair share of responsibility

While Mac Allister was the one who lost the ball, the pass to him from Virgil van Dijk was very poor. When the Argentine received possession, there were 3 Brighton players already on him.

Van Dijk essentially gave his teammate next to no chance of getting the ball away safely. From there on, though, Alisson’s poor reactions also have to be highlighted as Adingra’s shot wasn’t exactly in the corner of the goal, as Seaman points out.

The Liverpool No.1 has a lot of credit in the bank

Alisson can be forgiven for one mistake, considering how excellent he has been for the Reds at the start of this season.

The 31-year-old currently has a save ratio of 75.7%, which is the 5th best in the Premier League.
