Heskey Names The “Very Intelligent Coach” Who Should Replace Slot – He Could Bring “Entertainment” Back To Anfield

Ex-Liverpool striker Emile Heskey believes Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is the right man to succeed Arne Slot.

There have been reports in France suggesting that the Spaniard is the favourite to take the reins if the Reds do decide to dispense with the services of their current manager. Heskey believes that Iraola has a lot in common with Jurgen Klopp in terms of his footballing philosophy:

“Andoni Iraola has shown he has the capabilities. He’s shown that he’s a very, very intelligent coach. He’s played a back three. He’s played a back four.”

“He knows how to change it up. One thing I will say, Bournemouth is not Liverpool, and we’ve seen this so many times. Liverpool is just a little bit different to some other clubs where you’re given plenty of time.”

“So for me, yes, Iraola would be a great option because of the style of playing, and at [the] end of the day, we just want entertaining football as Liverpool fans.”

“That’s what we got with Jurgen Klopp. That’s what we got in the first season under Arne Slot, but it just kind of tailed off to become a bit more possession-based. But we want that entertainment. We want our teams to be gung-ho. That’s Iraola.”

Are Liverpool planning to sack their manager?

There has been speculative claims in the UK that the Merseysiders will fire Slot, but no respectable source has verified the stories.

At the moment, it looks as if FSG and sporting director Richard Hughes are sticking by their man, but things could change.

4 coaches are on the club’s radar

Despite the club’s current stance on Slot, there are reportedly contingency plans if a change in the dugout is required.

Iraola is believed to feature highly on Liverpool’s shortlist, with Hughes having worked closely with him at Bournemouth. Three German coaches, Julian Nagelsmann, Sebastian Hoeness and Matthias Jaissle, are also said to be well thought of.
