Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has ingratiated himself even more to fans by stating that Jurgen Klopp and Sir Kenny Dalglish are the two best managers of the Premier League era.
When asked the question by Sky Sports, Slot did not name former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, ex-Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger or Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola. Instead, he said:
“First ones that come to my mind is Kenny Dalglish and of course Jurgen Klopp.”
While Dalglish is a Liverpool legend, the Scot also won the Premier League when he guided Blackburn Rovers to the title in 1995.
Klopp, of course, secured the Reds’ first league championship for 30 years in 2020, although his teams also came very close to finishing top in 2019 and 2022, only to be pipped by Guardiola’s City.
Slot has not found succeeding Klopp tough so far
Many pundits felt that anyone who followed Jurgen Klopp in the dugout at Anfield would have a very difficult job on their hands. The German’s replacement knew they were big shoes to fill.
After three games of the new campaign, though, the transition has been pretty seamless, with Slot taking a maximum nine points out of nine.
Can Liverpool maintain their strong start?
The Reds have a packed fixture schedule after the international break. Their first game back will be against Nottingham Forest at home before they travel to Italy for their first Champions League match versus AC Milan.
The following weekend, they host Bournemouth at home, with another game at Anfield just a few days later against West Ham in the Carabao Cup. Slot’s men close out the month with an away fixture against Wolves.
With the exception of the Milan match, fans will be hoping to secure victories in every game in September so there is a good chance that Liverpool can continue their good form.
