Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has admitted that the Gunners still have a lot of work to do to chase down Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.
Mikel Arteta’s side thrashed Manchester City at the weekend but, speaking after the game, Rice said he respects the fact that they still have to make up significant ground to the league leaders if they are to finish in 1st place:
“We have got to keep pushing, we are still a couple of points off the top and that is where we want to be so we have to keep going.”
“Liverpool are still quite far in front especially with the game in hand, with them winning yesterday we know going into the game that you have to win these games. We will be there, we keep pushing.”
“Liverpool, credit to them they have been really good so far, they have top players and it’s down to us to hunt them. Respect to them but we obviously know the goal we want – to hunt them down and win the Premier League.”
Liverpool’s next five Premier League fixtures
Arne Slot’s team have two domestic cup ties before they play their next league match against Everton in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Wednesday week.
The Reds then take on relegation-threatened Wolves at home, Arsenal’s last opponent Manchester City at the Etihad before home fixtures against Newcastle and Southampton.
Arsenal’s next five Premier League fixtures
The Gunners have just as difficult a run as Liverpool. Arguably their easiest league game is the next one against Leicester City away from home.
However, they then have a London derby at the Emirates against West Ham, a trip to high-flying Nottingham Forest ahead of matches versus Manchester United (at Old Trafford) and Chelsea at home.
