Declan Rice Issues His Verdict On Liverpool And The Rest Of The Premier League Top 5

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has described Liverpool as “unbelievable” after being asked to assess the strengths of the Gunners’ opponents at the top of the Premier League.

Only eight points separate 1st and 4th, with Tottenham a further five points behind and, speaking about Arsenal‘s rivals, Rice said that the English top-flight is ultra-competitive:

“The league is so strong. City are unbelievable, Liverpool are unbelievable, Spurs have been unreal under Ange, Villa under Emery have been so good as well.”

After the Reds’ last-gasp victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, they have stretched the gap to Arsenal to 5 points.

However, with the Gunners playing bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United on Monday evening, it’s very likely that Rice’s team will reduce the lead once again.

Liverpool have a massive game coming up next weekend

While manager Jurgen Klopp will be keen to focus on the first leg of their Europa League round of 16 tie against Sparta Prague on Thursday, you can’t blame some of his players if they are looking slightly further ahead than that.

The Reds take on City at Anfield next Sunday and, if the home side can secure a victory, it would help Klopp’s side extend their advantage at the top of the table.

There are some big games to play over the next month

Following the City clash (as well as the two legs against Sparta Prague), Liverpool will take on Manchester United at Old Trafford in an FA Cup quarter-final.

Right after the international break, they will face Brighton at home before playing Sheffield United. They will then travel to Old Trafford again for the league game against United on April 7th.

Klopp’s men are entering a season-defining period and fans will be hoping that some of the club’s key players are back in contention to play in these fixtures.
