Sir Kenny Dalglish And Jurgen Klopp Both Issue Heartfelt Messages After The Death Of Liverpool Star

Liverpool legends Sir Kenny Dalglish and Jurgen Klopp have both paid tribute to Diogo Jota.

The Portuguese international was tragically killed in a car accident, along with his brother, in Spain. Speaking out about the tragedy, Dalglish said:

“Football is not important at this sad time. You feel helpless, knowing there’s so little we can do to ease the pain for his wife of just two weeks, his three beautiful children.

“Thinking and praying for all their loved ones after the devastating loss of both Diogo and Andre. YNWA (You’ll Never Walk Alone).”

Klopp has also spoken about Jota

The striker was signed by the German during his time in charge at Anfield, and writing in an Instagram post earlier today, Klopp said:

“This is a moment where I struggle! There must be a bigger purpose! But I can’t see it! I’m heartbroken to hear about the passing of Diogo and his brother Andre.”

“Diogo was not only a fantastic player, but also a great friend, a loving and caring husband and father! We will miss you so much! All my prayers, thoughts and power to Rute, the kids, the family, the friends and everyone who loved them! Rest in peace – LoveJ.”

Liverpool players and fans have paid their own tribute

The likes of Darwin Nunez, Stefan Bajcetic, Rio Ngumoha and Tyler Morton have also paid their respects with posts on social media.

There has been an outpouring of love from fans, who have left scarves and flowers outside of Anfield. Some have called for the No.20 shirt to be retired but the focus for now will be on caring for Jota’s love ones. As Dalglish mentions, the player recently wedded his longtime girlfriend and he has three young kids.

From everyone at WalkOn, we send our heartfelt condolences to his family.
