Liverpool Duo Named Alongside Arsenal Star And 2 Chelsea Players In Harry Redknapp’s Team Of The Week

Former West Ham and Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has included Liverpool stars Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz in his Team of the Week.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Redknapp praised both players for their performances against Bournemouth at the weekend.

Alexander-Arnold got himself an assist for Diaz’s second goal but Redknapp was keen to emphasise that there is more to the right-back’s game than passing:

“His quality is outstanding, but what I also liked was how he defended against Bournemouth. There’s not many who can combine those two things with such stunning results. Trent makes great runs with the ball, he never stops and he’s such an intelligent player.”

Redknapp also recognised Diaz’s contribution

The Colombian international bagged a brace versus Bournemouth, and Redknapp pointed out that he now has 5 goals in his first 5 games for the club this season which “only Michael Owen and Mohamed Salah have bettered”.

It’s been a surprisingly strong start to the campaign by Diaz. After a rather underwhelming 2023/24, many were tipping him to leave in the summer, but he has upped his game in recent weeks.

Who joins the Liverpool pair in Redknapp’s ‘Team of the Week’

Redknapp chose Crystal Palace’s Dean Henderson in goal after he helped keep a clean sheet during the 0-0 draw against Manchester United last Saturday.

Alexander-Arnold is joined in defence by Arsenal’s Gabriel, Aston Villa centre-back Ezri Konsa and Spurs’s Destiny Udogie.

Fulham’s Emile Smith Rowe was picked in the middle of the park, following his goal against Newcastle, with Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Tottenham’s James Maddison joining him and Diaz.

Up front, Redknapp went with Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, after the Senegalese international scored twice versus West Ham. He is part of a two-man forward line alongside Villa’s Ollie Watkins.
