Liverpool attacking midfielder Harvey Elliott excelled in the No.10 position against Arsenal on Wednesday night.
The 21-year-old provided assists for both goals in the Reds’ 2-1 win over the Gunners in the friendly at Lincoln Financial Field.
Supporters on X were full of praise for Elliott, who seemed very comfortable in his role of playmaker:

Elliott could come of age in a Liverpool shirt this season
No one should be making any definitive judgements based on performances and results in pre-season, but Elliott does look poised to make another step forward in his development.
Previous boss Jurgen Klopp was also a big fan of the player, and you can see him going from strength to strength under the new regime based on what we have seen up until now.
Slot has decisions to make in midfield
It does look like Liverpool boss Arne Slot wants to play with a two-man pivot, with one player playing in a more advanced position ahead of them.
Considering the make-up of the first-team squad, which is full of No.8s, Slot may have to make some tough choices. You would think that Alexis Mac Allister (when he returns to training) will be a dead cert in one of the two deeper roles. Who he will be partnered by, though, is still an open question.
Elliott has definitely made a case for himself playing as the No.10 but there are also plenty of alternatives for Slot to choose from.
