Arsenal legend Ian Wright has jokingly suggested that he wants both Liverpool AND Manchester City to lose this weekend.

While he says he’d like the two rivals to pick up 0 points as it would benefit the Gunners, he is backing Jurgen Klopp’s men to come out on top when the teams face each other at Anfield:

“I’ve just had a crazy thought. Can both of them lose? That came into my head. Can both lose for Arsenal please?”

“But no, you look at it from Liverpool’s point of view, is it at the Etihad? It’s at Anfield! Liverpool at this stage, I would fancy Liverpool, I would do.”

A lot depends on which players Liverpool have available

All things being equal, you would give the Reds the edge against Manchester City at home, but the Merseyside club are going through an injury crisis at the moment.

It means manager Jurgen Klopp may have up to eight players missing from his squad this weekend, which could level the playing field somewhat. Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Curtis Jones, Stefan Bajcetic, Thiago Alcantara, Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota are not expected to be in contention.

Salah should be fit to face City

One bit of good news has emerged in the past day or so, though, with Mo Salah having been pictured back in full training for the first time in 3 weeks.

The Egyptian international aggravated a hamstring injury after coming on as a substitute during the 4-1 win over Brentford last month. He has subsequently missed the games against Luton Town, Chelsea, Southampton and Nottingham Forest.

Salah is unlikely to be risked in the Europa League tie against Sparta Prague on Thursday evening but there is now a decent chance that he will play some part in the huge match versus City.
