“That Would Worry Me” – Mark Lawrenson Expresses Major Concern About Liverpool Ahead Of Arsenal Clash

Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson is concerned that the Reds’ poor recent performances could catch up with them when they take on league leaders Arsenal this weekend.

Although they thrashed West Ham 5-1 in the Carabao Cup midweek, their displays in the Premier League have not been that impressive. Speaking to Paddy Power, Lawrenson said he is hoping Jurgen Klopp’s side can come out on top even if they are not at their best:

“The only thing that would worry me a bit with Liverpool is that they haven’t really been playing well – they’d admit that themselves – but they’ve got really great results. The Arsenal game is massive for many different reasons, but the biggest thing about it is the result – if Liverpool can play okay and not outstanding but win, that would be a real bonus for them.”

Reds fans will be keeping their fingers crossed that the victory over the Hammers is the confidence boost that the team needs heading into Saturday evening’s game.

Since the November international break, it’s fair to say that Liverpool’s form has been rather flat. After drawing against Manchester City, they laboured to wins over Fulham, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace before being held by Manchester United last time out.

Klopp’s criticism of the Anfield crowd is designed to fire up supporters

Manager Jurgen Klopp clearly knows how important this weekend’s game against Arsenal is. Despite beating West Ham convincingly, Klopp was more focused on the flat atmosphere at Anfield:

“We need Anfield on Saturday Arsenal didn’t play this week. Anyone who knows anything about them knows they will be prepared, so we need Anfield on their toes from the first second, without me having an argument with the opposition coach. If it is too much football in December, if you are not in the right shape, give your ticket to somebody else.”

Klopp is sending out a message to supporters that they must be at their most vocal to back their team on Saturday. Considering the noise that Anfield can generate, it will be the Reds’ 12th man against the Gunners if Klopp gets his wish.
