Thierry Henry Reveals The Secret Behind Mo Salah’s “Outstanding” Form At 32 Years Of Age

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry claims Mo Salah’s ability to “adapt” his game while he is still in his prime has enabled him to rack up a “ridiculous” number of goal contributions for Liverpool this season.

The Egyptian international has been renowned for his goalscoring ability since moving to Anfield in 2017, but he has started to create more chances for others as he has got older, and Henry says it is a testament to Salah that he is still trying to improve as a player:

“When you can do both (score and assist), it’s just outstanding. The desire he has had to adapt and be better.”

“You don’t have a lot of players who adapt while they are at the top. They do it when it is too late. The numbers are just ridiculous.”

Salah’s season in numbers

The 32-year-old has scored 32 times and provided 23 assists, which means he has been involved in 55 goals in all competitions.

In the Premier League alone, Salah has 45 contributions in total, which is a record, having surpassed Henry’s own total of 44 for the 2002/03 campaign.

He needs three more assists to surpass the highest number in the Premier League era (20). Erling Haaland’s goal record (35) does seem to be out of reach, though. The Egyptian would need to score 9 in the final 6 matches to surpass the total. That is unlikely considering he hasn’t found the back of the net for 3 matches now.

Liverpool fans are delighted that he will be staying for 2 more years

Considering how drawn-out contract negotiations were, many felt that this could well be Salah’s last season at Anfield. Interest from Saudi Arabia remains but he was not tempted by the riches on offer in the Middle East.

After signing a two-year extension, it appears as if the winger has set to his sights on breaking more records with the Reds.
