Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk is “expected to stay” at the club beyond the end of the season, according to Anfield Watch.
The website claims that they have it on good authority that the Dutchman’s new contract is now a formality after he told other teams that he is not available.
Van Dijk’s current deal is set to expire at the end of June next year but it appears as if he has committed his future to the Reds. Fans on X are hoping that the news turns out to be accurate:

Van Dijk refused to talk about his future after beating Real
Speaking to the Spanish media following the 2-0 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night, the centre-back was asked directly about whether he would be staying at Anfield. He replied:
“What a direct question! You’re going to ask me that direct? But listen, at the moment there’s nothing I can say. The only thing I can say is that I’m fully focused on Man City from now on.”
Liverpool still need to resolve the futures of 2 other key players
The Reds seem to be closing in an agreement with van Dijk but the situation is very different when it comes to Mo Salah. The Egyptian spoke out after the victory against Southampton to say that he is more likely to leave than stay at this moment in time.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, meanwhile, has remained silent on his future, and that is concerning fans who fear he may sign a pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid.
