Liverpool On Alert As £44m French Starlet Admits He’s Flattered By Transfer Links

Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga says he appreciates the interest from big clubs but he wants to fully focus on his football rather than speculate about his future.

The 17-year-old is said to be on Liverpool’s radar, as well as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain, and when asked if he is happy by the stature of teams he is being linked with, the player replied:

“Certainly, it’s nice that big clubs like the ones mentioned are interested in me, but conversely, I’m not too interested in that. Especially since I am doing well at Rennes. We’ll see what happens next, I’ll let my parents and my agents manage this.”

Reports in the Spanish press have claimed the Reds and Real would be the two teams keenest on snapping up Camavinga, but he could cost a fair amount.

It is believed a fee of around €50m (£44m) would be needed for Rennes to be persuaded into selling the teenager when the transfer window reopens.

Liverpool have also been mentioned as being interested in Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic, Lille’s Boubakary Soumare and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria in recent weeks so it does appear that the Merseyside club are scouting central midfielders.

Whether they feel Camavinga’s talent is worth the outlay, though, we shall have to wait and see.
