Liverpool On Alert As Chelsea Prepare For “Future Sale” Of 36 Cap International

Chelsea are anticipating a “future sale” of Mason Mount after contract talks reached a “stalemate”, according to the Evening Standard‘s Nizaar Kinsella.

The journalist claims the Englishman, who has been capped 36 times by his country, could be sold to prevent him from leaving on a free transfer when his current deal expires:

Liverpool are known to be the leading contender to snap up Mount if negotiations over a contract extension do collapse.

There have been conflicting reports regarding the state of talks. Some believe that discussions are still ongoing but Kinsella seems to believe a transfer is increasingly likely.

The big question now is whether Chelsea’s co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali would be willing to offload Mount to a Premier League rival.

Considering the midfielder wants a sizeable salary increase, the options abroad are limited, so the Blues may have no choice but to sell to the Reds if they don’t want to let his contract run down.
