REPORT: Liverpool Planning Transfer Move For £34 Million Bundesliga Star

Liverpool are thought to be planning a transfer move for Wolfsburg defender Micky Van de Ven, according to a report from ESPN [via HITC Football].

While Liverpool have yet to make an official approach for the player, the interest of Jurgen Klopp’s club seems apparent at this point.

Liverpool have had great success with Dutch players over the years – footballers such as Dirk Kuyt, Georginio Wijnaldum and Virgil Van Dijk have all established themselves as club icons at Anfield. Could Van de Ven be the next to do so?

Who else, besides Liverpool, are interested in a move for Micky Van de Ven?

As things stand, Liverpool appear to be the only major club who have registered an interest in a transfer for Micky Van de Ven.

Additionally, the player himself appears to be keen on the move – as such, a transfer to Anfield almost seems inevitable at this point, if the rumours are to be believed.

In an interview featured in HITC, Van de Ven said: “I am very good at Wolfsburg, so I don’t mind staying at Wolfsburg for another year. But if I get a chance to leave, I would like to.

“Of course, I read everything [the transfer speculation]. I have good contact with my agent, so I know what’s going on. I’ll see where it will lead. Hopefully, [a big transfer after the U21 Euros] would be nice. The Premier League? Maybe, yes. Who knows.”

Micky Van de Ven’s career so far

Born in The Netherlands in 2001, Van de Ven’s first youth team came in the form of WSV ’30. He would leave the club in 2013, when he opted to sign for the academy at Volendam.

He signed his first senior team contract with Volendam and made his first team debut in the same year. In total, he made 45 appearances for Het Andere Oranje, scoring two goals.

In 2021, Van de Ven made the jump to Wolfsburg, where he remains to this day. So far, he has turned out on 38 occasions for Die Weißgrünen, scoring a solitary goal.

He has yet to win a senior cap for his country, but he has made seven appearances for The Netheerlands’ under-21 outfit.
