Midfield
CM – Ryan Gravenberch – the Dutchman is integral to how the team plays, and it is hoped that he can stay fit for the majority of the season.
CM – Alexis Mac Allister – after playing the last half hour on Wednesday, the midfielder should be in contention to take his place in the starting lineup this weekend.
AM – Florian Wirtz – the 22-year-old is slowly but surely stamping his mark at his new club. A Merseyside derby will, though, be a brand new experience for him.
Forwards
RW – Mo Salah – the Egyptian was much more like his old self against Atletico and fans will want more of the same versus Everton.
ST – Hugo Ekitike – it would be irresponsible to start Alexander Isak again with just a few days’ rest, considering his lack of match fitness. The Reds have the ideal replacement in Ekitike.
LW – Cody Gakpo – the winger was substituted just before the hour mark on Wednesday, which suggests his legs were being saved for the derby.
