Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be hoping to regain the momentum that his team built up before the international break when they take on Wolves this weekend.
Playing away in the Saturday lunchtime kickoff just days after international fixtures is not, though, an ideal scenario, so he will likely be selecting players who were not playing on Tuesday night if possible.
Alisson was sat on the bench for Brazil midweek so he should be ok to play at Molineux, as long as he isn’t affected by jetlag.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold still out injured, Joe Gomez is expected to deputise at right-back, with Andy Robertson taking up his customary position on the opposite flank.
In the centre of defence, captain Virgil van Dijk is still suspended, but Ibrahima Konate is back in training after missing the games against Newcastle and Aston Villa. The Frenchman is set to line up alongside Joel Matip.
After playing very well against Villa, Klopp may be tempted to keep the same midfield, with Alexis Mac Allister being the anchor, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones as the two No.8s.
There will likely be changes up front, though. Darwin Nunez came off with a muscular injury at half-time in Uruguay’s 2-1 defeat to Ecuador on Monday, so he isn’t expected to be available for Saturday’s match. Based on what his national team manager Marcelo Bielsa said, it doesn’t appear to be a serious issue.
Nunez’s absence means Cody Gakpo could lead the line, fresh off the back of scoring in both of the Netherlands’ games over the past week. Mo Salah and Luis Diaz are set to play either side of the Dutchman for the Reds this weekend.
