Liverpool ready to turn to Tottenham star after missing out on Nabil Fekir

Liverpool are preparing to turn to Tottenham Hotspur’s Heung-Min Son after having missed out on Nabil Fekir, according to reports.

Fekir’s proposed £60 million move to Anfield from Lyon fell through at the last minute just prior to the World Cup, with the Ligue 1 side insisting he will remain in France next season.

While hope remains Liverpool could still land Fekir, reports now suggest manager Jurgen Klopp will turn his attention to Spurs star Son instead.

The 25-year-old has been one of Tottenham’s stand-out players in the past few seasons since completing his £22 million switch from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.

In three seasons with Mauricio Pochettino’s side, Son has scoring 47 goals in 139 appearances for the club, helping them to 3rd, 2nd and 3rd placed finishes in the top flight.

However according to Sport1, Son is open to leaving Spurs this summer, and Liverpool are front-runners for his signature.

Jurgen Klopp is understood to be a big admirer of Son, and is familiar with him from his time in Germany when Son was with Hoffenheim and Klopp with Borussia Dortmund.

The South Korea international has two years remaining on his contract with Tottenham and Sport1claim that the club will demand at least €70 million (£62m) for the 25-year-old.

That fee however is one Liverpool are believed to be willing to match, having already bid £60 million for Fekir earlier this summer.

Arsenal and Manchester United are also understood to be interested in Son, who takes on Germany with his country this afternoon in South Korea’s final game of F at the World Cup.
