Liverpool ‘Take A Look’ At Relegated Midfielder Regarding Possible Transfer

Liverpool are thought to be monitoring Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams with a potential transfer in mind, according to a report from Leeds Live.

While a formal offer has yet to be submitted for the player, it is understood that Liverpool are closely monitoring the 24-year-old’s progress.

Who else, besides Liverpool, is interested in a move for Tyler Adams?

Outside of Merseyside, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United and bitter rivals Manchester United are all thought to be in the hunt for Adams’ signature.

Leeds are believed to have set an asking price of £40 million for the USA-capped holding midfielder, though this is unconfirmed. Despite this, with so many big hitters looking to snap him up, he could become the subject of a bidding war – which may dramatically increase the amount required to sign him.

On top of this, Adams still has four years remaining on his contract at Elland Road. Due to this, Leeds will likely try to get as much as they possibly can for the player upon the completion of a transfer deal. He was initially signed for £20 million by the Whites from RB Leipzig – they stand to at least double this when he is sold to another club.

Tyler Adams career summary

Born in Wappinger, New York, Adams’ first youth team came in the form of the New York Red Bulls, who he joined at the age of 13 in 2012. Seven years with RBNY eventually materialised into a move to one of their partnered clubs – RB Leipzig.

At Leipzig, Adams began to impress several clubs from across Europe. His ability to break up play, as well as his range of passing, was duly noted.

In 2022, Adams was signed by his former head coach, Jesse Marsch, during his stint at Leeds United. He was brought in as a replacement for the outgoing Kalvin Phillips, but despite his best efforts, he could not save the Whites from relegation to the Championship at the end of the 2022/23 Premier League season.

Since 2017, Adams has also won numerous caps for the USMNT. In total, he has made 36 international appearances for the USA, scoring a single goal in that time.
