Liverpool ‘Remain Vigilant’ As £52m Rated Serie A Target’s Contract Talks Drag On

Liverpool “remain vigilant” in monitoring Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic’s contract situation, according to FCInternews.it.

The Reds were first linked with a move for the Croatian international last month and it appears they remain very keen on signing the player.

However, Inter are said to be determined to keep hold of Brozovic and have reportedly offered a new deal worth €4.5m a season until the summer of 2024.

The 27-year-old is, though, holding out for around €6m a year, and with the midfielder having two years remaining on his current contract, Liverpool could take advantage of the situation.

Brozovic is said to have a release clause of €60m (£52m), and while the Reds would be unlikely to pay such a sum, its presence means Inter are under pressure to seal a new agreement with the Croatian.

It could be the case that the player’s agent is using Liverpool in his negotiations to get a better contract for his client. Although the Merseyside club may well be looking for another holding midfielder, such a sizeable investment appears to be unrealistic.
