Liverpool Reportedly Keeping A Close Eye On £30m Rated Portuguese Speedster

Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Atletico Madrid winger Gelson Martins, according to reports in the English media.

The Portuguese international only moved to Spain in the summer after he left Sporting Lisbon, but it seems he is already attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs.

Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Everton are all said to be keeping a close eye on Martins, with the 23-year-old having only been used as a substitute by Atletico boss Diego Simeone in the opening fixtures of the La Liga season.

Still, it seems the Spanish club value the midfielder very highly. He is said to be rated at £30m at the moment, but that could double by next summer if he has a good first season at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Martins is a similar type of player to Thomas Lemar, who the Reds previously had an interest in. It could be that the Portuguese star is being considered as a potential alternative by the club’s recruitment team.
