Liverpool sent a scout to watch Olympiakos attacking midfielder Aguibou Camara in action against Fenerbahce last week, according to reports in the Greek media.
The 20-year-old did not get on the scoresheet or contribute an assist in the 3-0 win in Turkey but the Reds’ representative was believed to have been very impressed by what he saw.
Camara is an international teammate of Naby Keita, having been capped three times by Guinea; the latest of which came yesterday in a 1-1 draw versus Sudan.
The midfielder has been in decent form for Olympiakos this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist in 10 appearances for the Greek champions.
Although he does ostensibly play in central positions, Camara has also been deployed as a winger. The Guinean only recently joined Olympiakos, having signed from Lille’s reserve team for a nominal fee back in July. It appears Liverpool will continue to monitor his progress over the course of the season.
