Liverpool set to land Atletico Madrid superstar

Liverpool are confident they will land Atletico Madrid superstar Jan Oblak next summer, reports the Daily Express.

Jurgen Klopp has set his eyes on the La Liga shot-stopper as a replacement for Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius, whom are both struggling for form at Anfield.

Oblak, 25, is expected to leave Atletico at the end of the season, and Liverpool want to add to Slovenian to their growing list of big names, having secured the services of Virgil Van Dijk earlier this month and Naby Keita set to move to Anfield in the summer.

The Guinea international agreed to join the Reds in a £51 million deal during the summer, but will stay at current club RB Leipzig for the remainder of the campaign.

Liverpool are reportedly confident that they can convince Oblak to move to Anfield due to Atletico’s likely lack of silverware this season, alongside the potential mass exodus from the Wanda Metropolitano.

Atletico are set to lose Antoine Griezmann at the end of the season – with Manchester United and Chelsea interested in the Frenchman – as well as Kevin Gameiro and Yannick Carrasco, and Oblak could follow suit.

The Slovak has an astonishing £90 million release clause in his contract, meaning any move to Anfield would likely see him become the most expensive goalkeeper in history.
