Liverpool Set To Miss Out As Ex Chelsea Starlet Closes In On New Deal Following Breakout Bundesliga Season

Bayern Munich are close to agreeing a new contract with attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala, according to reports in the English media.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City are all believed to be tracking the 17-year-old’s progress after a breakout campaign which has seen him score three goals in 13 Bundesliga appearances.

Musiala came through Chelsea’s academy but he decided to move back to Germany (where he was born) in 2019. He progressed through Bayern’s Under 17 and Under 19 teams before being handed his first-team debut by head coach Hansi Flick against Freiburg back in June.

Despite being German-born, the midfielder has opted to play for England, with the player getting his first two caps for the Under 21s in November last year.

Musiala’s ability, combined with his homegrown status, will certainly have attracted Liverpool’s attention, but it does seem as though he will be staying with Bayern rather than returning to the UK anytime soon.
