Liverpool Star Places Question Mark Over His Future At The Club

Liverpool vice-captain James Milner doesn’t know whether he’ll still be at the Reds beyond the end of the season.

The 33-year-old’s contract at Anfield expires next June, but the club have not decided to enter discussions over a new deal.

When asked for an update regarding his future, Milner revealed that his agent enquired about an extension in 2018, but the response was not what they were hoping for:

“Last year we spoke to the club and asked them if they wanted to do something and they said not at that time. We haven’t heard anything since so that’s where we are at.”

“All I can do is concentrate on my football and do what I can. But in terms of where I am with my contract, that’s what has happened up until now and I haven’t heard anything from the club.”

There is still plenty of time for discussions to be held about his future but, as things stand, the midfielder will be able to talk to foreign clubs in January.

Milner joined Liverpool on a free transfer from Manchester City in 2015. Despite being 29 at the time, he signed a five-year contract with the Reds, and he has more than paid back the faith shown in him.

In his four seasons with the Merseyside club, the midfielder has scored 22 goals and contributed 36 assists in 177 appearances.
