Liverpool star relishing Manchester City challenge

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah says he is relishing the opportunity to take on Manchester City this afternoon in what is one of the most hotly anticipated games of the season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side welcome the league leaders to Anfield later today, and will hope they can be the first side to topple the boys in blue this season in all competitions.

City lead the way in the Premier League by a massive 15 points, having won 20 of their 22 games so far – drawing the other two. Pep Guardiola’s side are also in the semi-final of the EFL Cup, and the knock-out stages of the Champions League.

Despite what seems a daunting task however, Salah says he is more than ready for the challenge.

He told LiverpoolFC.com: “It’s the kind of game I love and for the fans it’s something different.

“Us and Man City are both playing great football, so it will be a perfect game and I’m very excited.

“I’m sure we can have a good result. They play fantastic football but, for me, I just think about my team. We will see on Sunday.”

Salah is Liverpool’s top scorer this season having found the net 23 times in all competitions already, and the former Chelsea man says he is loving life at his new club following his big money summer move from AS Roma.

“I love to play here in Anfield, playing at home with a fantastic atmosphere,” he added.

“We try to play each away game like [it’s at] home – the most important thing is to win the game – but at home we feel more confidence with the support from the fans.

“It makes it like [we have] 12 players.”
