Liverpool Target £38m Rated Werner Alternative Who Klopp ‘Really Likes’

Liverpool have identified Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele as their “main objective” if they do not sign Timo Werner this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalan newspaper reports that the Reds are not willing to pay Werner’s release clause and that could lead them turning their attention to the Barca star instead.

Dembele has struggled with hamstring injuries during his time in Spain but Mundo Deportivo claim that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp “really likes” the Frenchman after seeing him play at his old club Borussia Dortmund.

Other teams, such as Arsenal, have also been mentioned as potential suitors while there have been other reports in Spain suggesting that the 23-year-old could be sold for €42m (£38m) as Barcelona look to free up funds.

Even at that price, though, it would be a big risk considering Dembele’s injury record. Fans will likely be hoping that that the Reds can come to an agreement with Leipzig over signing Werner instead.
