Liverpool Target Deal For 35M Rated Swiss Midfield Enforcer Who Is 90% Certain To Leave His Current Team

Liverpool remain interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to reports in the German media.

The Swiss international has a contract that expires in 2022 and, with no agreement over an extension, the chances of him leaving Gladbach in the summer have been rated at 90%.

Zakaria has been on the Reds’ radar for a number of months, and with Georginio Wijnaldum almost certain to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season, it seems the Merseyside club have already identified his replacement.

They will face competition for the 24-year-old’s signature, though. Reports in October suggested that Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City were all keeping tabs on the midfielder, with the latter believed to be preparing a €40m (£35m) summer bid.

City are, therefore, likely to be Liverpool’s main rivals for Zakaria but there is a long way to go before the next transfer window opens.
