Liverpool Target Second January Deal With Move For Ligue One Starlet

Liverpool are planning an offer for Toulouse left-back Mathieu Goncalves in the January transfer window, according to reports in the French media.

The 18-year-old has only recently made his senior debut, having started the 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain back in August. He has since gone on to make four more appearances for the first team.

Goncalves has actually played more at centre-back than as a fullback this season, and his flexibility may well be something that has attracted the Reds to the defender.

The teenager could also be lined up as an understudy for Andy Robertson with the Scottish international having not had a real backup in his position since Alberto Moreno left in the summer.

With Takumi Minamino already poised to move to Anfield in January, Goncalves could well be the second name through the door next month if Liverpool do table a bid for the promising France Under 18 international.
