Liverpool Told They Are In “Pole Position” To Sign Bundesliga Star Despite Sky High Asking Price

Ex-Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell firmly believes that Liverpool are in “pole position” to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham if he decides to return to England.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are also thought to be interested in the teenager but Campbell thinks Jurgen Klopp’s connections at Dortmund could give the Reds the edge:

“If he wants to come back to England I’m sure there will be a lot of clubs interested. Liverpool would be in pole position if he does. There is only a few teams he could come back to. It would be a good move for Liverpool. It has been talked about for 18 months or so now. Bellingham is at Dortmund as well, Klopp has very good links there. I’m sure he has been well studied.”

Reports coming out of Germany in recent days suggest Dortmund may hold out for around €120m (£103m) to sell Bellingham which is a staggering figure for a 19-year-old.

For that reason alone, it is likely that Liverpool will remain patient in their pursuit of the England international. Dortmund have history when it comes to setting exorbitant valuations.

They asked for a similar amount for Jadon Sancho before deciding to let him leave for around £73m last year. Sporting director Julian Ward will be hoping to drive down Bellingham’s price tag in a similar way.
