Liverpool Told To ‘Get Their Chequebooks Out’ If They Want To Seal Deal For 22.5M Midfield Lynchpin

Liverpool will have to “get their chequebooks out” if they want to sign Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge this summer, according to Yorkshire Live.

Reports in England have claimed that the Reds, along with Arsenal and Aston Villa, are interested in the Norwegian international, and that he could be signed for £22.5m; the same figure the Blades paid for the player over a year ago.

However, Yorkshire Live say that Sheffield United are not looking to sell off their players on the cheap, even though their relegation has been all but confirmed. They are believed to be happy for Berge to stay at Bramall Lane and allow his value to increase next season when they hope he will impress in the Championship.

The Norwegian is currently sidelined with a serious hamstring injury that has kept him out since December but he is expected to return before the end of the month. If he performs well in the closing stages of the Premier League season, interested clubs may well test the Blades’ resolve with a bid in the summer.
