Liverpool Identify TWO Crystal Palace Players They Want To Sign This Summer

Liverpool are considering a bid for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, in addition to club captain Marc Guehi, according to reports.

The Daily Mail claim that Wharton is on the club’s “radar” ahead of the summer transfer window.

Wharton is highly rated, with several teams such as Manchester United, Manchester City and even Real Madrid having shown strong interest in the player.

A fee in excess of £80m would probably be needed to secure the 21-year-old’s signature, so it remains to be seen if an offer will be seriously contemplated by the Reds.

What is the latest on Guehi?

Many supporters would like Liverpool to make a bid for the England international this month. Head coach Arne Slot currently has two fit centre-backs, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.

If either of them get injured, there are no replacements available in the current squad. Giovanni Leoni has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury, while Joe Gomez and auxiliary option Wataru Endo are also on the treatment table.

As things stand, though, no approach for Guehi is expected. There is a reluctance to match what Palace would want in terms of a fee, so a free transfer at the end of the season is deemed much more likely.

Will Liverpool make any signings in January?

At the moment, it doesn’t look as if there will be any fresh additions. Although enquiries were made for Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, no official bid was ever tabled.

The main reason for that was probably down to the player, who has expressed his preference to join Manchester City.

Even so, it doesn’t stop the Reds from seeking out an alternative to Semenyo, but again, signings up front may have to wait until the summer.
