Liverpool are keen on bringing former Everton striker Ademola Lookman to Anfield amid interest from rivals Arsenal.
According to TeamTalk, the Reds are pursuing Lookman who has had an impressive spell at Serie A side Atalanta where he has made 79 appearances, scoring 32 goals and recorded 18 assists.
The 26-year-old came through the ranks at Charlton Athletic before moving to Everton in 2017. He had loan spells with RB Leipzig, Fulham and Leicester City.
Lookman scored just four goals in 48 appearances for the Toffees but has had much more success since leaving the Premier League.
Arne Slot will be pleased with his start to life at Anfield after his side recorded a 2-0 win over Premier League new boys Ipswich on the opening day.
Seeing as Arne Slot’s Liverpool are yet to make a signing this summer, he will be keen to land a new face before transfer deadline day in 10 days.
Liverpool face competition for Ademola Lookman
Premier League rivals Arsenal are also keen on landing Lookman this summer as they are monitoring his situation amid further interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
Valued at around £34m, however, Atalanta have said that they want at least £51m for him, a fee that could put off any move by the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal.
How would Lookman fit into Arne Slot’s team?
The 26-year-old plays as a striker but can also play on either the left or right-hand side as a winger. In his current role, Lookman has played as part of a strike partnership up top.
Lookman has a lot of pace and could add to the speed that the Reds already have with Mo Salah, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota. He would give Arne Slot a different option at the striker position as he is less of a traditional number nine, unlike Darwin Nunez.
If Liverpool were to sign Lookman, he would most likely start his career at Anfield on the bench before Slot figures out a role for the ex-Everton man.
