Liverpool and Newcastle have “already made” contract offers to Adrien Rabiot, according to Calciomercato.com.
The France international, who is playing for his country at the European Championships, became a free agent on July 1st after leaving Juventus.
Rabiot has been offered a new deal by Juve but he is holding out for around €9m a year (£146,000 a week). That’s a reasonable salary so you can understand why the Reds may be interested in the player. However, fans on X are not too keen on him making the switch to Anfield:
Run a mile please LFC not a player I want trouble with a capital T – every year contract discussions are too public all trying to drive the highest bidder

Rabiot has prioritised a move to another team
Calciomercato.com report that the 29-year-old has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid, although the European champions are not thought to be interested in snapping him up.
With that being the case, you would hope that the Reds end their pursuit of Rabiot and consider other targets instead.
Liverpool need to sign a holding midfielder
The fact is Rabiot isn’t the type of player that Arne Slot needs in midfield. He does have a high work rate, but he isn’t a no.6.
You feel that, if the Merseysiders do go into the market, they will target someone who can break up play and protect the back four. At the moment, though, not many of those have been linked with a transfer to Anfield.
