News emerged on Thursday that Alexander Isak has effectively requested to leave Newcastle.

The striker was left out of the Magpies’ preseason tour due to a thigh problem but it was subsequently claimed that he had asked the club to consider letting him go.

Liverpool are among the favourites to sign Isak before the transfer window closes, but a British record bid will be required.
