“On Another Level” – Liverpool Told That Top Summer Signing Could Get Even Better Under Arne Slot

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy believes that Alexander Isak could reach “another level” now that he is at Anfield.

Fitness problems have limited the 26-year-old’s impact since his British record move from Newcastle in the summer, but Murphy told online betting site BetWright that head coach Arne Slot has the coaching skills to get even more out of the player than Magpies boss Eddie Howe did:

“We’re obviously yet to see the best of Alexander Isak. The reason Liverpool went for him is that he’s risk-free; he’s a proven goal scorer in the Premier League. Arne Slot will feel that they can improve Isak and take him up another level.”

“To meet the physical demands of the Premier League, you have to have a strong pre-season, but he nor Liverpool have had that, so it’ll take time for him to get up to speed. But there’s absolutely no doubt he’ll have an impact on the team and improve the side. I’ve got no concerns about who he plays with or who is around him because he’s such an intelligent footballer.”

Isak’s record at Liverpool

The Swedish international has scored just 1 goal in 6 appearances for the Reds so far. That came in the Carabao Cup third round tie against Southampton last month.

Isak also bagged an assist versus Chelsea just before the international break, with his neat flick finding Cody Gakpo. At the moment, the forward is averaging a goal involvement every 3 games.

Isak’s numbers at Newcastle

During his three years at St James’ Park, the striker found the back of the net 62 times, as well as creating 11 goals, in 109 matches. That meant he averaged a goal contribution every 1.49 games.

Isak will be keen to start matching the record he had with the Magpies before harbouring any ambitions of moving beyond that level. Fans will be hoping he gets on the scoresheet against Manchester United this weekend.
