Alexis Mac Allister’s agent has confirmed that he will remain at Liverpool this season, despite mounting interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid.
There were reports that Madrid were considering making a move for the midfielder just one season after he joined Liverpool from Brighton last summer.
90min.com has reported that the Spanish giants were looking at him due to claims that MacAllister had a ‘bargain’ release clause. However, any chance of him leaving Anfield has now been shut down.
Speaking to MSR, the Argentine’s father and agent said: “Alexis is performing very well at Liverpool, and this is the important thing to say at the moment.
“There are no negotiations from Real Madrid with Alexis, and the player will continue with Liverpool next season. If future offers arrive to sign Alexis, we will discuss them with Liverpool’s management first.”
Mac Allister’s excellent first season at Liverpool
It would be no surprise to see transfer interest in the 25-year-old due to his impressive form at Anfield this past season.
He made 46 appearances for the Reds, scoring seven goals and recording seven assists. The former Brighton man became a mainstay in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield and is set to carry on this role under new boss Arne Slot.
He will be competing with Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch for the primary central midfield spot but Mac Allister seems like he is surely a lock to be a starter under new boss Arne Slot as he was under Jurgen Klopp.
The 25-year-old can play both as a defensive midfielder and an attacking one, making him a useful asset for Arne Slot to have at his disposal.
Arne Slot keen to add another centre-midfielder
Despite Mac Allister’s quality, Liverpool is in the market to add another midfielder this summer to add to their depth. We reported that they are keen on signing free agent Adrien Rabiot who was released by Juventus.
Rabiot, 29, remains the most valuable free agent on the market with interest from AC Milan, Real Madrid, and Manchester United after he had a solid Euro2024 with the French national team.
