Liverpool are “out of the race” to sign Fluminense midfielder Andre, according to the Evening Standard.
The English newspaper reports that the Reds have switched their attention to defensive targets, while Fulham have taken the lead in the battle to secure the Brazilian international ahead of the January transfer window.
Fans on X are not completely surprised that Jurgen Klopp’s side have cooled their interest in Andre, but many are frustrated that the club are not actively seeking to strengthen their midfield:
We’re not shocked 🤣

Liverpool’s pursuit of Andre stretched back to the summer
Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt has previously confirmed that he had direct talks with a Liverpool official about Andre but he made it clear in no uncertain terms that the player wouldn’t move before January.
Since then, rumours about the Reds’ interest in the 22-year-old have begun to die down, suggesting they may have gone off the idea of signing the player.
Fulham are not the only other Premier League club interested in the Brazilian
Both Manchester United and Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in Andre in recent weeks but the Standard claim that Fulham are the team that has made the most concerted effort to buy the midfielder.
It is believed that the Cottagers’ chief executive Alistair Mackintosh went to Brazil last week in order to hash out a deal worth £30m.
