“He Can Play At Liverpool” – Manager Of Serie A Giants Claims One Of His Regular Starters Could Become A Red

Juventus head coach Igor Tudor says Andrea Cambiaso has the potential to play for a club like Liverpool in the future.

Both the Reds and Manchester City have been linked with the Italian international over the past 12 months, but Tudor thinks the defender needs to believe in himself more if he wants to join those types of teams:

“He’s a top-level player. He needs to be more consistent in his performances, and he has to work and grow. It always depends on him. Potentially, he’s a player for the best clubs in the world, but it’s up to him to decide.”

“He can play at Liverpool, Real Madrid or Manchester City, the top clubs in the world, but he has to say: ‘I’ll get there because every Sunday, I’m the best.’ If he says that, he can go and play there shortly.”

Cambiaso was touted as Trent’s replacement

Reports in March suggested that the 25-year-old was being looked at by Arne Slot’s side. At the time, there was speculation that Trent Alexander-Arnold could leave Anfield. Those rumours ended up being true.

However, rather than pursuing Cambiaso, the Reds went out and signed Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen instead. The Dutchman hasn’t exactly had the best of starts, with many questioning whether he is a natural fullback.

The same questions would probably have been levelled at Cambiaso as well, who has been playing as a wingback in Tudor’s 3-4-2-1 system this campaign.

Liverpool’s rival made a concrete approach for the defender

The Italian’s agent Giovanni Bia confirmed back in July that Manchester City actively tried to snap up Cambiaso during the January transfer window.

However, they ultimately “abandoned” their pursuit as they decided to invest their funds in other positions.

They were seeking a replacement for Kyle Walker at the time, and they have not subsequently purchased another right-back.
