Liverpool And Chelsea ‘Warned’ About Asking Price As Clubs Vie To Sign Teenager Who Has Been Compared To Messi

Liverpool and Chelsea are among the clubs battling to secure the signature of Red Star Belgrade winger Andrija Maksimovic, according to TEAMtalk.

The two teams are keen to snap up the teenager but they have been “warned” that he won’t be sold on the cheap.

Maksimovic has already been labelled the “Serbian Messi” by some in the media, which is mainly due to the fact that he is left-footed and has a low centre of gravity.

Whether the comparisons are justified, it is still too early to tell, but he has certainly attracted plenty of interest.

Maksimovic has suitors right across Europe

TEAMtalk claim that Juventus and several German clubs are also looking to sign the Serbian, while Manchester City have been keeping tabs on his progress as well.

The number of teams vying for Maksimovic’s services means that Red Star Belgrade are well within their rights to hold out for the highest possible fee.

What do Liverpool fans need to know about the player?

Some reports have suggested that Maksimovic could cost in excess of €15m (£12.5m) which does sound like a lot for someone who only made his senior debut at the end of last year.

Since then, the 17-year-old has gone on to make 14 first-team appearances for Red Star, scoring his first goal against FK Radnicki Nis last month.

Maksimovic has also played his first match in the Champions League, playing 70 minutes during the 4-0 defeat to Inter Milan at the beginning of October.

His talent has already been recognised by his national team too. The winger got his first cap when Serbia took on Switzerland in the Nations League during the last international break and he then made his second appearance a few days later against Spain.
