There is a “real chance” that Liverpool will reignite their interest in Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon before the summer transfer window closes, according to journalist David Lynch.
Speaking on the Anfield Agenda YouTube channel (quotes via Anfield Index), Lynch said that the player’s contract situation and his desire to move to Anfield could prove to be deciding factors:
“On Anthony Gordon, I think that’s one that has a real chance of being revived maybe later in the window. Because that contract situation is there. That leaves Newcastle in a weak position in terms of negotiating even though they’ve got past all the PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules) trouble that they’ve got. The player would desperately love to play for Liverpool.
The majority of supporters on X are not too keen on the former Everton forward joining the Reds, with many feeling that the club should invest the money in other positions:

He’s not worth the money so many better options out there better than him

Spent that money on a CDM, we don’t need Gordon

Beyond bizarre. We have five players that can play left attack and one ageing but brilliant player on the right (plus maybe Elliott)

Liverpool will only sign Gordon if they sell a player first
It would be a surprise if the Reds tried to buy the England international before they offloaded one of the five forwards currently on their books.
The favourite to leave would be Luis Diaz. There were links to Barcelona earlier in the summer but the Catalan club are now focused on recruiting Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams instead.
Unless another suitor can be found for Diaz, it seems unlikely that Liverpool would try and strike a deal for Gordon.
