Liverpool On Alert As It’s Confirmed They Can Take Advantage Of £75M+ Rated Forward’s Release Clause

Liverpool transfer target Antoine Semenyo does have a release clause in his contract, according to reports.

The 25-year-old only signed a new five-year deal with Bournemouth at the beginning of July, but talkSPORT claim it includes a buyout fee.

It isn’t known what the exact figure is but the Cherries reportedly value Semenyo in excess of £75m.

The forward has had an excellent start to the season, scoring 6 goals in 8 appearances, which includes a brace against Liverpool at Anfield on the opening day of the season.

3 Premier League clubs want Semenyo

TalkSPORT report that the Reds are “big admirers” of the Ghanaian international, but they may also face competition from the likes of Tottenham and Manchester United.

Both teams reportedly discussed a transfer with Semenyo prior to him penning his contract in the summer, so there is a good chance that they are still interested in securing his signature either in January or at the end of the campaign.

The existence of the release clause will probably make a move even more appealing, especially if he can maintain his current form between now and the New Year.

Are Liverpool in the market for a winger?

Semenyo is predominantly right-footed, so the chances of Reds sporting director Richard Hughes targeting him as a potential replacement for Mo Salah are unlikely.

However, Hughes is probably the man driving the Reds’ interest in the forward, considering he was the one who signed him from Bristol City for Bournemouth in January 2023.

You could argue that there is space for another option on the left wing following Luis Diaz’s sale to Bayern Munich in July, but Semenyo’s arrival would block the path of Rio Ngumoha, who has been promoted to Cody Gakpo’s backup since Diaz’s departure.
