Liverpool and Arsenal are among the teams that have joined the race to sign Club Brugge winger Antonio Nusa, according to 90min.com.
Newcastle, Borussia Dortmund, Ajax, Lyon and Monaco are also thought to be interested in the 18-year-old, who was the subject of a bid from Chelsea right before the transfer window closed.
The Blues reportedly had a €30m (£26m) offer rejected, but they are expected to continue monitoring Nusa’s progress, along with Liverpool, over the coming months.
It could consequently lead to a fierce fight to secure the teenager’s services in January or at the end of the campaign.
Why is Nusa in such demand?
It must be said that the Norwegian hasn’t really made his mark at club level yet, having started only 16 times for Club Brugge since he arrived from Stabaek just over two years ago.
However, Nusa is still very young, and scouts are convinced that he possesses a great deal of potential.
The winger showed what he could do on Thursday night when he made his debut for Norway’s senior team, scoring the opener in a 6-0 friendly win against Jordan.
Nusa is earning rave reviews
After Nusa scored for Norway, national captain and Arsenal star Martin Odegaard hailed the teenager as a “very exciting player”. Former striker turned pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft has also said he is the “real deal.”
From Liverpool’s perspective, they will be doing their due diligence on the forward over the coming weeks and months. He is usually deployed off the left wing, cutting in onto his stronger right foot. That position isn’t one that the Reds really need to strengthen.
In addition to Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota, both Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo can also play on the left flank. If Nusa were to make the move to Anfield, he may need to be sent out on loan initially so he can get game time.
