Liverpool ‘Preparing To Make An Offer’ For 19 y/o Playmaker Who Mesut Ozil Says Is Already Better Than Him

Liverpool are keen on signing Real Madrid attacking midfielder Arda Guler, according to Turkish-Football.com.

The website claims sources have told them that the Reds are “preparing to make an offer” for the 19-year-old, who impressed while playing for Turkey at the European Championships.

Arda is believed to be happy at Real, and he is determined to become a regular starter under Carlo Ancelotti, having been used sparingly last season.

After joining from Fenerbahce for €20m last year, the youngster started just five games in all competitions. It should be pointed out that he did spend the first half of the season out injured.

Even so, the arrival of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer could limit Guler’s game time to an even greater extent. It is, therefore, up for debate whether the playmaker would be tempted by a transfer to Anfield this summer.

Liverpool are not the only Premier League club interested in the teenager

It was reported last month that the Reds had been scouting the Turkish international, but the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are believed to be monitoring his performances as well.

Guler is left-footed and can play from the middle as a no.10 or from the right flank. Depending on what position manager Arne Slot wants to play him in, he could either be a replacement for Mo Salah or a successor to Philippe Coutinho.

Ozil is a big fan of Guler’s talents

Asked to name a no.10 who he believes possesses more ability than him, former Arsenal and Real Madrid player Mesut Ozil named the Turkish wonderkid:

“I can think of a name, I have a brother that I believe in, may God protect him: his name is Arda Guler.”
