Liverpool missed out on Juventus defender Gleison Bremer this week as the 27-year-old signed a new deal with his club. 

Bremer was one of Arne Slot’s main targets this summer as he continues the search for a long-term replacement for Virgil Van Dijk.

Liverpool will now have to look elsewhere for a centre back as their depth at the position is poor with just Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate providing options alongside Van Dijk.

There is no doubt that Slot will have drawn up a list of alternatives to Bremer that he will now pursue after missing out on the Juventus man.
