Brazilian Attacker ‘Waiting’ For Premier League Move To Materialise With Liverpool Linked

Feyenoord star Igor Paixao could reportedly be on his way to Anfield, following in the footsteps of his former boss Arne Slot. Given Jurgen Klopp’s departure, Slot will be keen on bringing in “his” type of player to establish his style of play at Anfield.

24 year-old attacker Igor Paixao has generated reported interest from Liverpool due to the Feyenoord link between him and manager Arne Slot.

The Brazilian was signed by Slot for the Dutch side in the summer of 2022 for £4.5 million and has excelled in the Eridivisie.

Amid the rumours of a possible move, Paixao spoke to Brazilian news site Globo Esporte, the attacker said: “I’m listening and watching on social media. A lot of people are always tagging me and asking: Are you going to Liverpool? I don’t know anything, I’m just waiting.”

Speaking about the new Liverpool boss, Paixao responded: “He did an excellent job with our squad. I just have to thank him and wish him success at Liverpool. He will be missed, but he has to keep working.”

How much could Liverpool pay to sign Igor Paixao?

Paixao signed for Feyenoord for just £4.5 million in 2022, but since then his value has increased significantly.

With 3 years left on his contract at Feyenoord, they have no obligation to sell him which could drive his price up even further.

With an estimated market value of around £14 million, Liverpool could be looking at upwards of £20 million to secure his signature. Given Paixao’s 9 goals scored last season, other clubs are interested. Crystal Palace will likely need to replace Michael Olise plus Everton and Newcastle want to strengthen their forward options potentially rivalling the deal.

Arne Slot stil waiting to make his first Liverpool signing.

After talks between Liverpool and Newcastle broke down over Anthony Gordon, Slot is yet to make a signing for the Reds.

He has been linked with a few names from Feyenoord including defenders Lutsharel Geertruida and David Hancko.
