Liverpool are expected to battle it out with two other Premier League teams for the signature of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson, according to reports in Germany.
The Swedish international has been linked with a move to Anfield on several occasions in recent months but Fussball.news claims that the Reds will face competition from Chelsea and Arsenal.
Larsson is described as the “jewel” of Frankfurt’s current squad, having sold Omar Marmoush to Manchester City in January.
After raising the best part of £60m from the sale of the Egyptian, they are not desperate to offload any of their other prized assets this summer.
An asking price has been set for Larsson
Frankfurt’s financial position, and the fact that Larsson’s contract runs until 2029, means they will demand top dollar for the midfielder if Liverpool or another team make an approach over the coming months.
Fussball.news report that the Bundesliga side will ask for “a lot of money” with his price tag said to be around €60m (£50m).
What do Liverpool fans need to know about the player?
Larsson came through Malmo’s academy, making his senior debut against GAIS in a Swedish Cup tie in February 2022, coming on as a substitute during a 5–1 win.
Less than 18 months later, the 20-year-old secured a move to Frankfurt, with the German side paying a reported €9m for his services; a record fee received by a Swedish team.
Larsson established himself as a regular starter straight away. He is generally deployed as a holding midfield player, but he has been asked to play further forward on occasion. In terms of where he would fit into Arne Slot’s starting eleven, he would probably be seen as an alternative to Alexis Mac Allister rather than Ryan Gravenberch.
