Liverpool are not looking to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush, according to reports.
Sky Sports claim that interest in the Egyptian international has been “quashed by sources on Merseyside”, with the Reds said to be keener on Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo.
Marmoush has been in outstanding form for Frankfurt, having scored 18 goals and contributed 12 assists so far this season.
However, it appears that the 25-year-old won’t be making the move to Anfield this month or next summer.
Marmoush could still join another Premier League team
GiveMeSport have backed reports suggesting that Arne Slot’s team have cooled their pursuit of the Egyptian but they also suggest that title rivals Arsenal may “take advantage” of the situation.
The Gunners are keen to strengthen their options up front following the hamstring injury sustained by Bukayo Saka and they could now step up their interest in Marmoush.
Frankfurt are reportedly reluctant to let the forward leave midway through the campaign but they may consider a sale if a club is prepared to table an offer in the region of €60m (£50m).
Salah is a big admirer of the former Liverpool target
Speaking in November, Egypt’s captain Mo Salah expressed his admiration for his international teammate, complimenting him on his development, but he also urged people to stop drawing comparisons:
“Omar Marmoush, incredibly talented and currently a key player for his club and the national team. But I hope he can stay away from comparisons because they will keep putting him under constant pressure.”
“I just want him to avoid the idea of comparisons. People need to stop comparing him to me, saying he’s ‘the new Salah’ and that he’ll do what I did or even better, this doesn’t help him; it only puts him under constant pressure.”
“You can’t compare him to a player who has achieved so much over the years while he’s just starting out. Let him live his own experience and enjoy it. He’s doing something different, in his own unique way.”
