Bundesliga Side Could Sell Liverpool Target For Bargain £26M After Champions League Hopes Are Dashed

Liverpool may be able to snap up Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure for just €30m (£26m) this summer, according to reports in the German media.

The Bundesliga side were counting on the proceeds from Champions League qualification to help them retain the Ivorian international’s services.

However, they lost out to Stuttgart for the fourth and final spot last weekend after losing 4-0 to Borussia Monchengladbach.

Sky Sports Germany claim the consequence of that result is that Toure could be sold for between €30m (£26m) and €40m (£35m).

Liverpool are one of 4 Premier League clubs pursuing the player

The Reds have been credited with an interest in the 20-year-old over the past month or so, but his availability for such a low price will also attract plenty of other suitors.

Sky report that Manchester United, Newcastle and Aston Villa are circling Toure, in addition to Arne Slot’s side, so there could be a major battle on the horizon for the forward’s signature.

Toure would be a much cheaper addition than Diomande

The Hoffenheim star has been in good form this season, having scored 5 goals and contributed 12 assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.

Toure’s Ivorian international teammate, Yan Diomande, also plays in Germany for RB Leipzig, but he is expected to cost around €100m (£87m); an asking price that is unlikely to drop after Leipzig secured their spot in next campaign’s Champions League.

However, Diomande has only made six more goal contributions (13 goals and 10 assists) than Toure, and in four more games as well.

For that reason, Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes may see the latter as a more cost-effective solution, allowing more funds to be devoted to other summer signings, such as Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.
